HELP US WIN $50,000!

This Wednesday night, May 26th, Meaningful Media is filming a groundbreaking promotional video and we need your help to make it happen. We’d like to showcase our sexy and dynamic community by inviting 12 of you to participate on-camera. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be the next Scarlett Johansson or Zac Efron. We just need you to show up, say a few words, and be yourself.

If you’re camera shy but still want to volunteer, we’re also looking for talented writers, editors, motion graphics artists, and composers to help us put this together by June 15th.

We’ll be posting the video online as part of the Pepsi Refresh Project, an exciting and collaborative fundraising opportunity to get pro-social projects off the ground. Projects are chosen for funding by public vote, so we want to make this video as fun and engaging as possible.

Filming will be from 7-10 PM in Burbank. Email marisa@meaningfulmedia.org to get involved. Thanks for your help! We're psyched to be part of such a hip, creative community.

Meaningful Member of the Month: Paul Livingstone

Paul is an international performing artist, composer, educator, ensemble leader, writer/lecturer and activist. An American born in Beirut to missionary parents, Paul lived in India for one year at the age of fifteen. The trip initiated his path into Indian music and culture, and had an indelible impact on his social and spiritual psyche. With performances & collaborations in India, Southeast Asia, Europe and Latin America, he is known for his virtuosity on sitar and a colorful array of world strings. In all Paul’s work he strives to directly engage audiences through consistent themes of peace & unity, mindfulness & transcendence, social responsibility & justice. Paul and his work were recently spotlighted in the LA Times. More

Meaningful Organization of the Month: Creative Capital

What happens when arts funding meets venture capital? Creative Capital happens. Their aim is to establish partnerships with artists in five fields: Film/Video, Innovative Literature, Emerging Fields, Performing and Visual Arts. Instead of just writing a check, Creative Capital makes a long-term investment in an artist. They also leverage established techniques from micro-finance--if a funded project turns a profit, the artist must pay a portion of the proceeds back to Creative Capital to fund the next project. That's one check every artist would love to write! More
